Each year the entire Accountfully team makes an effort to gather at headquarters in Charleston to stay connected, strengthen our workplace bond, and celebrate the year’s hard work. A team that works as hard as we do, needs some time to play just as hard every so often. Unfortunately, 2020 brought us COVID and we were unable to meet in person. We did our best to adapt with virtual happy hours and video chats, but it wasn’t the same. September 16th, 2021 marked our first in person gathering in a year, and the social events and camaraderie did NOT disappoint. Here is a recap of what we did and how it all went down.
Our Growing Team Left HQ Overflowing
Major growth has been a major theme for this, and the previous year. On the day of the event, we had two new hires starting, and an official team of over 50 packed into the office. Needless to say, once Nashville arrived, we were a full house, with desks and common areas overflowing.
Day One: Headshots, Lunch and Appetizers
Thursday started with each team member having their headshot taken. It is rare we are all in the same spot, so we took advantage of having the continuity in background and lighting. Our famous entryway moss wall was the backdrop of choice. Lunch was catered by local Charleston eatery, Verde. That evening we all enjoyed a rooftop sunset with appetizers and drinks at Stars Rooftop Bar, downtown.

Day Two: Team Building and a Waterfront Lunch
Friday was the big team building day. After logging some work hours from our various homes or hotels in the morning, we met at a local pavilion for Corporate Survivor; a series of competitive relay and survival activities.

Team spirit was at an all time high, with all of us sporting our new Accountfully T-Shirts and socks, and slurping down ice water in our new tumblers. The crew broke out into four teams to compete, all complete with epic names. Since the scores from all of the events were so close, a team “chant-off” was done to solidify the winners. The team with the best chant won.

Each station tested our teamwork, athletic, and communication abilities. They ranged from sling shot throwing, to a survival scenario where teams had to choose items to use from a plane crash, to navigating on a three person ski.

After a sweaty morning of relay races and cheerleader-esque spirit, the crew finalized the two day event at Saltwater Cowboys for a waterfront taco lunch. Ice cold margaritas and tacos were the perfect cap on a great event.
Nashville Leads the After Party
After two days of time together, you would think everyone would be ready to retire to their hotels and homes. Not this team. Nashville led the charge and rallied the crew for some drinks and dinner at Uptown Social Friday evening. As the Nashville team headed home on Saturday morning, all was back to regular operations by Monday.
After all of the festivities of the Fall Event, it is safe to say we have recharged our team bond and brought a strengthened sense of community to the Accountfully workplace. While we are all quite used to remote interactions between offices, it can never replace the time needed face to face. Our growing team truly enjoyed the two days of celebration and interface, and we are already looking forward to the next get together.

We are a pretty eclectic bunch, which translates into quality client work and harmonious interface within our internal teams. If this is the kind of team you want to work with, we would love to talk more.
