Accountfully believes people are greater than numbers, and we are on a mission to prove it. We enjoy featuring our eclectic employees with a spotlight that shows the world a bit more about them behind the outsourced accounting scenes.
Like every (accounting) hero there is usually a cool backstory to how they became the stellar accounting pros they are today, and our Nashville-based Senior Accountant Hank Graves is no different. When he started college at Tennessee Tech, he was on the path to becoming a mechanical engineer. He was good at math and that seemed like the right choice. Wrong. All it took was one much-too-enjoyable Accounting Basics class to decide those sweet math skills needed to be used in a new career: accounting.
So how did Hank end up in Accountfully’s Nashville office? Did he make the right decision? You decide.
Hank was born and raised in Nashville and has worked out of our Nashville office since 2021. He enjoys the flexibility Accountfully offers and the culture that has been established here. Soon after Hank joined our team, he became a father of three with the birth of his third daughter, Lilly, in the Spring of 2022.
Since Hank lives in one of our local markets, he is able to take advantage of a hybrid work lifestyle spending several days a week in the office and a few at home. “Getting the best of both worlds,” as he would put it.
Hank is a Senior Accountant with Accountfully on the Onboarding Team. When Hank first joined Accontfully, he worked on our Monthly Recurring Team and about a year into his role, he moved to the Onboarding Team.
When asked which one he liked better, he said “there are good things about both. With recurring you get to really learn each business that you work on, and build a relationship with each client. In Onboarding, you get something new every day, and you still get to build the initial relationship with the client and can set the tone for the whole client experience with Accountfully.”
Hank breaks down his “first job” into classifications of Before College and After College. Before college Hank worked for a landscaping company and his job after college was as an Accountant (big shocker) for Kroger, the grocery store chain.
Hank is famous for making most of us laugh at Accountfully, but he can’t get enough of terrible Dad jokes.
According to Hank, “if it’s not a Dad joke, it’s a dead joke.”
Second big shocker: Hank is a nickname. His official middle name is Henry, so Hank has lived under this alias his entire life.
Early 1800's in the US to experience the chaos that surely existed after the creation of a new nation.
If you are interested in working alongside team members like Hank, you are in luck! We are always seeking Accounting professionals in various roles. Take a peek at our careers page for all of the details and to learn more about our workplace perks.
