Accountfully believes people are greater than numbers, and we are on a mission to prove it. We enjoy featuring our eclectic employees with a spotlight that shows the world a bit more about them behind the accounting scenes.
Emily embodies everything an athletic, working mom in the Midwest should. She somehow does it all and puts it all out on the field every day. Bringing her best to all she does; at home, on the Peloton, and at work.
As a graduate of Indiana Tech, she quickly pivoted the focus of her organized, math-based brain from medical school to accounting. It was there she found her calling. Helping others through organization and wrangling chaos (with a lot less blood involved).
How did this story of a med-school-hopeful-gone-accountant unfold? Let’s dig into Emily’s unique background and see!
Emily is an Accounting Manager who works remotely from Fort Wayne, Indiana. In addition to supporting clients, she is also on the Client Service Delivery team, ensuring quality control in everything we do.
In her time with Accountfully, she has made big impacts on her clients, most recently by successfully navigating the arduous process of an audit.
“I’m especially proud of helping a client through their first single audit, which is the highest level of audit an organization can undergo. They didn’t have the processes in place to meet the requirements, so I worked with them to set everything up. We ended up completing the audit with zero findings, which was a huge win for the client and their funding efforts.”
Emily holds a Major in Accounting with a Minor in Business Administration from Indiana Tech. She is an Indiana girl, through and through. It is where she grew up and where she and her family live today. The journey to become an accountant started with a knack for math and organization.
“I was always gifted in math and being organized but my entire childhood I was convinced I would go into the medical field, until I quickly learned it was NOT for me. After that, I decided to focus on my strengths and that led me to accounting. Allowing numbers to tell a story and analyze that story fascinates me.”
“I love watching a good stand-up comedian, but aside from that, my toddlers saying the most random, hilarious things always works too.”
“I worked as a Hostess at a local sports restaurant with a few of my best friends.”
“I LOVE working out with Peloton, I would consider myself a groupie. It's the "me time" I take every single day.”
“I absolutely love the culture at Accountfully. The team is incredibly supportive—everyone, without exception, is always willing to lend a hand and is genuinely kind and welcoming..."
"It's the kind of environment that makes it easy to stick around for the long haul! On top of that, the leadership team is always looking ahead, constantly brainstorming ways to improve our processes and bring the team together in fun, casual ways.”
“As cliche as it is to say, my mom is my hero. She has always supported me and my siblings and encouraged us to chase after our dreams with no ceilings. Now as a mom myself, I am inspired to be like her in all the ways.”
“I would be a cheetah and run fast!”
“If It Makes You Happy,” by Sheryl Crow
This one is really simple for Emily. She answers when called “Em.”
“Oohhh I would probably go back to ancient Egypt/Rome time–not to live.. Just to visit and experience for a week or so.”
“Being a working mom doesn’t mean I’m any less dedicated to my career or my kids. I’m all in, whether it's a project for our team and clients or spending quality time with my children. It’s about finding fulfillment in both areas, and I’m not afraid to show that it’s possible to thrive in both. Also, Go Fighting Irish and Go Reds!!! I love summer.”
