It’s that special time of year for privately owned businesses to see if they made the ultimate cut in business growth - the Inc. 5000 list. After all, it’s when all of that hard work and expansion gets put into a number in black in white alongside some of the country’s top performers. The news has arrived, and we are excited to announce that Accountfully has made the prestigious Inc. 5000 list for the second year in a row. Just like the majority of our clients, we have continued growth at a rapid rate, and to be recognized for it nationally by such a widely respected publication, is huge.
Don’t take our word for the seriousness of this year’s list, though. Scott Omelianuk, Editor in Chief, Inc. Media, says of the 2020 list:
“For decades, Inc. has welcomed the fastest-growing private companies in America, and this year’s set of winners places the bar very high indeed. Companies that made the list, on average, have grown sixfold since 2016. During a stretch when the economy grew just 15 percent, that’s a result most businesses could only dream of.”
Accountfully ranks at #1894, with a growth rate of 223% - not too shabby. For our home state of South Carolina, 39 (including us) were repeat honorees, 157% was the median growth rate, producing a total revenue of $2 billion. Drilling it further down to Charleston-specific companies, 16 (again- including Accountfully) were repeat honorees, with $755.9 million revenue produced. That is a lot of economic contribution coming from a relatively small pool of companies. This all translates into jobs too - South Carolina’s top producing companies made for over 3,300 jobs created with all of this expansion.
Just like the unique (ahem - COVID) economic challenges businesses were challenged with, this year is a bit different when it comes to celebrations. With the Accountfully office at minimal numbers to maintain social distancing, we had to make do with our own half in-person, half via-Zoom celebration. Still a great way to celebrate another year on the list and the depth of the achievements.
Inc. will be changing celebrations up a bit too. Each year they hold the Vision conference, where Inc. 5000 List companies can celebrate and be recognized at the gala. This is the first year it will be broadcasted remotely. This change in format will be an exciting new chapter in reaching out to a broader Inc. list audience, with more able to attend.
