Accountfully Life

Employee Spotlight: Alex Vignone

Employee Spotlight:  Alexandria Vignone

Accountfully believes people are greater than numbers, and we are on a mission to prove it.  We enjoy featuring our eclectic employees with a spotlight that shows the world a bit more about them behind the outsourced accounting scenes.

Meet Alex Vignone, current holder of Accountfully’s best remote office view award and newly married dog mom to Chloe the (extra fluffy and super precious) Golden Retriever.  From Big Four accounting to remote accountant here at Accountfully, Alex has an impressive accounting pedigree and is now part of an accountant power couple.  Her husband is also in the profession.  Don’t mistake these two for boring number-crunchers, their passion for F1 racing led them to Monaco for their honeymoon and gets them out of bed early on the weekend.  Let’s learn more about our Jersey City-based accountant, Alex.

What Led Alex To Accountfully

Alexandria, “Alex,” grew up in New Jersey and attended college in Philadelphia where she majored in Accounting.  It was a high school accounting class that sparked her inner accounting fire.  Both of her parents are CPA’s, so it was only a matter of time before she awakened her inner accounting genetics.

“Both of my parents are CPAs, so you could say Accounting is in my blood. They didn't try to get me to go into it, but I took a class in high school and it just clicked for me.”

In her final college year, she interned at Ernst and Young and received a full-time offer upon graduation.  After two years in the big four world, she worked for a fashion company in NYC, a nice combo for the creative-minded accountant.  Alex joined the Accountfully team in 2022 and works remotely from her apartment, enjoying a fabulous downtown Manhattan skyline view (hence the award).

First Job

Alex began her career in a cupcake shop, where trying all of the cupcakes was part of the job description. She even got to bring home boxes of baked goods during the holidays.

“My first job was working at a cupcake shop in high school. It was SO MUCH FUN. And yes - they want you to try every cupcake which is dangerous when my shifts were right after school haha."

Favorite Way to Unwind After a Busy Day

Taking a relaxing stroll with her husband and beloved dog Chloe is a win for unwinding at the end of the day.

“I meet my husband after work to walk our dog Chloe throughout the neighborhoods and along the waterfront. Sometimes we meet up with my mom and sister who live down the street as well!”

Favorite Part Of Working at Accountfully

Similar to most of our answers, Alex is a fan of the people she works with and the supportive culture. She is also a big fan of the remote format.

“The people that work at Accountfully are truly a team. You can ask for help and everyone will jump in where they can. My second favorite part - the flexibility and being remote. I have never worked remotely before, and I love being able to work from home, or the beach :)"

Who Is Alex’s Hero

It’s a good day when you have more than one hero in your life.  Alex credits both her family and her best friend and college roommate, Heather as her heroes.

“My best friend/college roommate Heather. She is truly one of the strongest and most resilient people I know. She teaches underprivileged and special needs children in the Philadelphia school district and works so hard for the children, for her family, and for her friends. I am in awe of her constant growth while always supporting others.”

Nicknames

Alex’s full name is Alexandria, but she mostly goes by Alex.

“My everyday nickname is Alex, but I am also called "Al" and/or "Big Al" by my close friends.”

Where Alex Is Going If She Could Travel Back In Time

After seeing her amazing New Year’s Eve wedding pics, the Roaring 20s seemed pretty obvious.

Alex ringing in the new year at her NYE wedding
“The roaring 20s filled with glitz and glamor. I love the speakeasy, sparkly, good-time vibes. The Great Gatsby was a big influence on my wedding on New Year's Eve. We even remixed our first dance to include the song from the movie. ✨”

Which Animal She Would Be

Alex takes the phrase “owners often resemble their pets” to a whole new level on this one.  Remember the pampered, fluffy dog of hers, named Chloe?  That is what Alex would embody as an animal.

“I would FOR SURE be a golden retriever. Goldens are super spoiled with a lot of treats, cuddles, and smiles. Plus, napping all the time with no responsibilities and never having to worry? That is the life.”

What Alex Wants The World To Know About Her

Alex has a robust creative side that is a nice complement to her number-crunching skills.  She creates yearly Christmas cards, hand-designed her wedding invites, and loves all things illustration.

“I am super crafty. I love painting, calligraphy, designing, and digital illustration.  You name it I am down to try it.  Once I have an idea in my head, I will obsess over it until I can create it in real life.”

Aside from both being accountants, Alex and her husband are big F1 racing fans.

“My husband and I are obsessed with F1 racing. We will get up early to watch the races with mimosas in hand because as we like to say 'it's race day!' We have a basic simulator we use to race on the PlayStation and we planned our honeymoon around the Monaco Grand Prix this May.”
